Cancellation of Debts Due to Total and Permanent Disability or Death
In the event that the borrower becomes totally and permanently disabled they, or their representative, should contact Student Loan Collections* to discuss the procedure to cancel their debt(s).

To qualify, you must be employed full-time in a public or nonprofit elementary or secondary school system as:
Law Enforcement or Corrections Officer
A full-time law enforcement officer for an eligible local, state, or federal agency whose activities pertain to crime prevention.
Head Start Staff Member
A Perkins Loan or NDSL borrower who received the loan on or after July 1, 1987 is entitled to cancellation of up to 100% of the loan for qualifying service as a full-time
