M-marketsite is the university's online catalog ordering system that allows faculty and staff to login and place orders from many suppliers. There are over 30 suppliers offering a wide variety of products including laboratory supplies and equipment, office supplies, dental supplies, furniture, computers, food and beverages, and U-M logo products. Instructions for accessing M-marketsite are available.

M-marketsite supplier catalogs are either punchout or hosted. How you search for green products depends upon which type of catalog you are using. Listed below are search options by punchout and hosted.

Punchout supplier catalogs

Punchout supplier catalogs have icons listed in the product search tab. You click on a specific icon to access the supplier's catalog. Examples of punchout suppliers are Fisher and OfficeMax.

Use the category field when searching for green products in a punchout supplier catalog. Suggested search terms are Energy Star, recycled, and post-consumer. The returned results are from the specific supplier catalog that you have accessed.

Many M-marketsite punchout suppliers have customized U-M shopping lists, favorite product lists, or hot lists that feature green products. Click on these lists to find products offered by the suppliers.

The majority of punchout suppliers give you the ability to create personalized shopping lists. If needed, the supplier's sales representative can assist you in creating green products lists for your specific needs. Hosted supplier catalogs

These suppliers typically have smaller catalogs.  Examples of hosted supplier catalogs are Mikan, Cryogenic Gases and Arbor Mitchell.

When looking for green products from hosted suppliers, using the shop at the top search select a product category (e.g. Office and Computer or Lab Supplies) and then enter the type of product that you are looking for.  After search results are returned, look for those suppliers who support green purchasing practices or offer energy start products.  Search results can also be filtered by the recycled product flag.

M-marketsite also gives you the ability to create your own favorites lists for hosted supplier catalogs.
