Nancy Hobbs is the associate vice president for finance at the University of Michigan. In this role, Hobbs is responsible for the university’s central financial functions, including procurement, accounting, payroll, and sponsored programs.
She is also responsible for the university’s externally audited financial statements, financial analysis, internal controls, tax management, and treasury functions, including cash, debt, and risk management. Finance includes more than 350 employees at several locations across the Ann Arbor campus.
Prior to becoming the associate vice president for finance, Hobbs served as the university’s director of procurement services and held a number of other key positions in U-M's Business and Finance Division.
Before joining the university in 2003, Hobbs held several finance-related positions, ranging from chief financial officer to vice president of finance, at various manufacturing companies. She also worked as an auditor at Ford Motor Company and Arthur Andersen. Hobbs holds a B.B.A. from the University of Michigan as well as an M.B.A. from Eastern Michigan University. She has also completed the Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant examinations.
