Effort Reporting Procedures - Temporary Employee Effort Certification Process

Temporary employees certify effort when they report hours worked in each bi-weekly pay period.

  1. Unit reviews time reports for accuracy before processing. This may be a review by the employee, supervisor, principal investigator, unit administrator, or any combination of the four.
  2. When units identify effort distribution errors that have been incorrectly charged to Shortcodes, they should initiate a correction. (Refer to the Policy on Retroactive Salary Tranfers.)
  3. When retroactive Salary Distribution changes alter prior certified effort or create an Effort Reporting requirement that did not previously exist in a prior period, an Effort Recertification Memo must be processed. The memo is available in the Resources section.
