Fiscal Year 2011 Strategic Initiatives

1. Support the university’s goal of reducing $100 million from the General Fund by FY 2012

  • Finalize Administrative Services Transformation strategy: complete business cases, prioritize projects, and develop funding strategies
  • Establish Project Management Office

2. Implement Procurement Strategic Sourcing initiatives and promote “smarter buying” in schools and colleges

  • Establish spend-tracking mechanism and provide clear direction on buying methods
  • Complete unit spend analysis for remaining schools, colleges, and units
  • Complete IT strategic sourcing assessment

3. Design and implement enterprise-wide systems

  • Complete roll-out of Concur Travel and Expense Management System
  • Implement financial planning and forecasting system (Hyperion) in select units

4. Provide expertise and guidance on compliance, reporting, and control issues

  • Lead post-award American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) efforts, including compliance, reporting, and campus support
  • Help units improve internal controls and enhance Unit Certification Process through increased use of metrics and technology

5. Maximize efficiencies and reduce costs by analyzing and enhancing existing financial processes and procedures

  • Evaluate organization of accounts payable function
  • Implement streamlined depository process (Phase II)
  • Evaluate rate setting and chargeback models
  • Implement self-service model for vendors and employees
