Tony Burger is the director of financial analysis and is responsible for the annual budget and business planning process for the Business and Finance (B&F) organization at the University of Michigan. He represents B&F on budget-related matters and provides financial management reporting to B&F units.
He is also responsible for leading the consolidation of the university’s annual budget processes. In addition, Burger directs the periodic review and analysis of university recharge rates and ensures they comply with federal costing regulations. The Office of Financial Analysis includes the Finance Project Management Office.
Burger is also serving as the director of procurement services at U-M. In this role, he is responsible for several critical university-wide functions, including purchasing, travel and expense, strategic sourcing, print/copy/mail, and property disposition. The department manages an annual spend of $6 billion and supports the Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint campuses as well as Michigan Medicine and is responsible for the annual university space survey as well as asset tracking.
With more than 30 years of financial and project management experience at the university, Burger has extensive knowledge of financial systems and has led financial system development and implementation at the institution. His previous responsibilities included planning and organizing efforts to develop the university's audited financial statements and serving as the project director for the development and implementation of the university's Shared Services Center. Burger has a B.A. in accounting from Eastern Michigan University.
